Project ASCLEPIUS brings together phage scientists

ASCLEPIUS is funded by the European Union through the Horizon Europe Twinning programme. This initiative aims to foster institutional cooperation between public research organisations in EU Member States and Widening countries. Participating partners are from G. Eliava Institute of Bacteriophages, Microbiology and Virology (Georgia), University of Minho (Portugal), Institut National de Recherche pour l’Agriculture, l’Alimentation et l’Environnement (France) and Intelligentsia Consultants Sarl (Luxembourg).

Meet Consortium Members

  • Natia Karumidze

    Co-ordinator of ASCLEPIUS. Senior scientist of the Laboratory of General Microbiology at G. Eliava Institute of Bacteriophages, Microbiology and Virology. Her research focus is on therapeutic bacteriophages against variety of clinically relevant bacterial species.

  • Joana Azeredo

    Associate professor at the Department of Biological Engineering of the University of Minho. She eads the Biofilm Science and Technology research Group. Her research focuses on bacterial biofilms and bacteriophages.

  • Marie-Agnes Petit

    Research director at the French Institut National de Recherche pour l’Agriculture, l’Alimentation et l’Environnement (INRAE) in the department of Bacterial Adaptation and Pathogenesis. She leads the Bacteriophage genome dynamics team (DynPhage).

  • Giles Brandon

    Managing director at Intelligentsia Consultants Sarl, highly experienced in providing training for proposal writing and project management for EU funded R&D projects. Has worked on nearly fifty (50) FP7 and H2020 projects.
