ASCLEPIUS Members Introduce Young People to Microbiology and Phages at Biotechnology Camp in Mestia
ASCLEPIUS members recently participated in a Biotechnology Camp in Mestia, introducing young participants to the fascinating fields of microbiology and bacteriophage research.
The camp brought together 100 young people from Upper Svaneti, Samegrelo, and Abkhazia, providing them with an opportunity to learn about the potential of biotechnology and explore the wider world of science, technology, and innovation.
As part of the programme, ASCLEPIUS researchers delivered sessions on general microbiology and bacteriophages, introducing participants to microorganisms, bacteriophages, and their potential applications. The sessions offered an opportunity for young people to discover different aspects of microbiology and learn more about the role of biotechnology in addressing scientific and societal challenges.
The Biotechnology Camp is held at the initiative of the Innovation and Technology Agency of Georgia, with the project implemented by Rethink Innovations’ Center.
Through its involvement in initiatives such as this camp, ASCLEPIUS contributes to science outreach and helps create opportunities for young people to engage with modern biotechnology and discover the diverse possibilities offered by scientific research.
