ASCLEPIUS Summer School – Day 1

The first day of the ASCLEPIUS Summer School welcomed students from Georgian universities to the Eliava Institute.

The program opened with a lecture on scientific writing delivered by Prof. Joana Azeredo from the University of Minho. Scientists from Eliava Institute followed with presentations on the history of bacteriophage discovery, their applications in medicine and biotechnology, and an introduction to laboratory safety.

In the laboratory sessions, students gained hands-on training in bacterial strain cultivation, an essential skill for microbiological research.

This combination of theoretical and practical learning provided an engaging start to the Summer School and reflects ASCLEPIUS’s commitment to fostering scientific excellence and innovation in phage research.
