ASCLEPIUS Researcher Presents Comparative Study of Pseudomonas-Specific Phages at Viruses of Microbes 2026

ASCLEPIUS researcher Sophio Rigvava presented her poster at Viruses of Microbes 2026, titled "Comparative Study of Five Pseudomonas-Specific PhiKMVvirus Phages Targeting Biofilm-Forming Strains."

Her research compares the genomic organisation, biological properties, and host range of five Pseudomonas-specific PhiKMVvirus bacteriophages. By evaluating these characteristics, the study aims to improve our understanding of phage diversity and identify promising candidates for targeting biofilm-forming Pseudomonas aeruginosa strains.

The findings contribute to the development of phage-based strategies for combating persistent bacterial infections and support the broader objectives of the ASCLEPIUS project in advancing bacteriophage research.

Presenting this work at Viruses of Microbes 2026 provided an opportunity to share the results with the international scientific community and engage in discussions with researchers working on bacteriophage biology and phage therapy.
