ASCLEPIUS Summer School – Day 3

The third day of the ASCLEPIUS Summer School continued with a diverse program at the Eliava Institute.

Dr. Luciana Meneses from Universidade do Minho (UMinho) gave an in-depth lecture on bacterial biofilms and their importance in microbiology and infectious disease research. Following this, Dr. Silvio Santos (UMinho) presented on the applications of phages and their proteins, highlighting their potential in biotechnology and medicine.

In the laboratory, students participated in a biofilm demonstration and practiced collecting and interpreting results. To conclude the day, participants visited the electron microscopy facility.
